Bulletin for July 17

  • General Membership Meeting will take place today right after Chinese service & English Sunday School in the Sanctuary. All members please reserve your time to attend. A list of eligible voting members had been posted on the bulletin board outside Sanctuary and proxy forms are on the reception table. Agenda as follows:  a) To elect Wilfred Li & Yvonne Mak as congregation representatives of 2017 Elder Nomination Committee. Together with Rev. Yung, they will form the Nominating Committee with representatives from Elder Board: James Chan & Thomas Chang.
  • Next week, our guest speaker is Pastor Andrew Wong, English Pastor of Chinese Evangelical Alliance Church of Toronto.
  • Rev. Joe Chan is invited by Zion Chinese Alliance Church to preach on English Service next Sunday.
  • There will be no Awana Clubs from today to Sept 11. There will be a summer children program from 9:30-11:00am for age 3 to Grade 6.
  • Due to Children Summer Day Camp, Tuesday basketball activity on July 19 & 26 will be cancelled. Also, Thursday night badminton activity will be cancelled in July & August.
  • Please clean up your own food in the refrigerators by today as we need extra space for the Children Summer Day Camp food team.  
  • Children Summer Day Camp will be held tomorrow. Please pray for the arrangements and cooperation as CEF & Scripture Union are running the camp with our helpers assisting. Pray that the unchurched children and family would have opportunity to hear the Gospel.
  • Rev. Daniel Tang will take vacation leave from July 24 (next Sunday) to Aug 12 (Fri). He will be back to church on Aug 14 (Sun).
  • The Fun Fair will be held on this Sat (July 23) from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. We are still seeking volunteers to help with different parts of the Fair such as: booth attendants, helping with food, greeters, parking duty, promotions, stage performers, car wash attendants, and the setup/teardown annual tradition. Please sign up on the English bulletin board downstairs. We would also greatly appreciate items for our garage sale during the fair. If you are able to bring items, there will be a table set up at the back of the lobby for the drop-offs. The deadline for donations is today. Please contact Emma Long, or any other summer students via email or in person.
  • Fund Raising with food sale for China STM will be held today & next Sunday, July 24. We’ll sell food at lunch time on these Sundays. Booth tables will be set up in gym (PS: we’ll still have normal lunch provided during the event). And also we need helpers for preparing & serving food. Please contact Betty Kong (647-525-9026), if you want to help out.
  • There is a need to support some needy students of Dali to participate in the English summer camp.  For 80 students, the need is about CAD 1,300.00.  If brothers and sisters have a burden to support the local Chinese students to participate in the summer camp, please specify for “Dali STM – Student Support” on offering envelop. The deadline for the support will be next Sunday, July 24. We have received $900 up to last Sunday.
  • There is a need to support 4 teacher assistants to come to Dali from Chengdu to help out the work of translation, sharing the gospel, and other duties in the English summer camp. Please specify for “Dali STM – Teacher Assistant Support” on offering envelop.  The need is about CAD 2,600.00 and the deadline for the support will be next Sunday, July 24. We have received $750 up to last Sunday.
  • Please remember our mission ministry and missionaries in our prayers:
    • Angel Wong from Carmel fellowship went to China Zhaojue thru Hong Kong for mission trip until mid-August. She is serving with Simon & Eva Fok together, pray for her health and a safe commute.
    • The Dali short-term mission team will be going to Dali, Yunnan from Aug 1 to 13. Please pray for their preparation and spiritual readiness, and may the team members follow His guidance.  May God protect them, lead them, and provide opportunities for them to witness for him. Remember financial needs for supporting our team members, plus the local students and teaching assistants.
