Bulletin for September 18

  • There are two courses for fall term Sunday School:
  1. a) Small Group Training (suitable for adult & University, rooms 10-11)
  2. b) Prayer (suitable for junior high school & high school, rooms 6-7),

Encourage everyone to study God’s Word together.

  • Congregational fellowship lunch will take place next Sunday (Sep 25) in the gym after English Sunday School and Chinese Sunday Service.
  • The five pastors of our church will attend a Joint Congregational Pastors Symposium at Fair Havens in Beaverton, organized by CCACA from Sept 26 – 29 (Mon – Thu). Please pray for them.
  • We’re excited to launch our new small group ministry in Oct. For those interested in becoming a leader of a small group, please contact either Rev. Joe Chan or Philip Cheung. Training and orientation has already started during the English Sunday School time!
  • In Oct., we will be starting a special course on Sabbath keeping. The duration will be roughly 10 weeks during the English Sunday School time and conducted in English. However, it will not only be for English congregants, but it is open to everyone in the church willing to learn and grow in the area of Sabbath and entering into God’s rest. While there is no age restriction, maturity and commitment is required. This course is designed to help those who have experienced depression, workaholicism, burnout, and anxiety. It also promotes a healthy lifestyle for Christians. Materials will be provided, attendance will be taken, and group discussion is encouraged and important. The maximum capacity is 12 people. There is no cost, but please contact Rev. Joe Chan for registration (joemchan@rogers.com). Participants must register before attending.
  • Thanksgiving Night will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 15. All brothers and sisters are welcome to register for sharing thanksgiving testimony or hymns. Deadline for registration is October 2 (Sun). Registration form is available at the reception table.  Invitation card will be distributed shortly.  For detailed information, please contact Tom Choi or Grace Tang.  This is a joint program for the entire church.  Please invite your friends to come to the Thanksgiving Night and please also pray for the program.
  • William Yung is invited to preach on the Anniversary Sunday Service at Kitchener-Waterloo Chinese Alliance Church next Sunday.
  • For nominations of 2017 elders by church members:
  1. Qualification for the Elder Nominee:
  2. Meet the biblical requirement (Acts 1:21-26, 6:3-6, 1 Timothy 1:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
  3. Must remain as active & voting member for at least two years immediately prior to the election
  4. Must have served as a Deacon(ess) for two terms (4 years)
  5. Willing to obey and execute resolution of the Board of Elders or General Meeting.
  6. Qualification of church member making the nomination:
  7. Must be a voting or active member
  8. Ways of Nomination:
  9. In writing to the Nominating Committee, the Committee will screen the nomination
  10. Written nominations must have two or more active members to sign for the proposal and seconded

Nominations must be submitted by the Sept 25 (Sun) to Nominating Committee. It won’t be accepted after the date.

  • Baptism in December 4. We are accepting baptism applications now. Please obtain an application form from the usher table and submit it together with your testimony to Philip Cheung or Angel Wong or drop it into the drop off box upstairs no later than Nov 6 (Sun).
  • Passion to Reach Ministries will hold a Gospel outreach conference “GO Conference” on Oct 14-15 (Fri – Sat) in the Attwell Centre (272 Attwell Drive, Toronto). It is designed to equip you to build bridges with the people that God has placed in your life! For those interested, please contact Pastor Joe. Detailed information please visit www.goconference.ca. The cost ($10 with lunch) is a special arrangement, as we intend to be a church partner for this ministry.
