Bulletin for March 11, 2018

  • Monthly English prayer meeting will be held today in observation room at 1pm. We encourage you to come and pray with us.
  • Joe Chan is invited by Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church to preach for their Sunday Service today. He will back to the church for Sunday School.
  • There will be no Awana Clubs today and next Sunday due to March break, but we will have another children program instead.
  • AV Training will be held today at 2:30pm in Sanctuary. The speaker is Bill Chan. Anyone who is interested and willing to serve in the AV ministry are welcome to join.
  • General Meeting will take place next Sunday, March 18 right after Chinese Service in the sanctuary. All church members are required to attend. A list of eligible voting members has been posted on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary. If you can’t attend the meeting, please pick up the proxy forms at reception table. Meeting agenda is as follows: i) Report of external auditors   ii)To approve 2017 financial report  iii) 2017 departments report
  • Secret Church will be held on Fri April 20 starting at 7:00 pm. Secret Church, a simulcast led by David Platt, is a version of “house church” where we meet periodically for an intense time of Bible study—lasting 6+ hours—including a time of prayer for our brothers and sisters across the globe who are facing persecution. This year’s topic is Cults and Counterfeit Gospels which looks to answer “What false gospels are being taught today?” and “How can I recognize the true gospel among so many counterfeits?” Cost is $15 to $20 and the registration deadline is March 25. If you are interested, please speak with Sheila Wong or a small group leader.
  • Baptismal class will start next week, Mar 18 in the library during Sunday School time.
  • Sermon discussion of Sunday School for Junior High and High School will start today. For Adults Sunday School, a new 6-week course called Empowered to Influence (http://simplymobilizing.com/courses/empowered-to-influence/) will begin today in Rooms 10/11, and it will be facilitated by Dr. Randall Mah, a missionary currently serving at Wycliffe Bible Translators.  There is no registration fees but CCAC will cover the costs ($15) for reading materials, and a freewill offering to the English Sunday School account is welcome.  Anyone interested in participating please contact Yvonne Mak.
  • Today is the early bird registration deadline of Children Summer Day Camp, the fee is $140 per week. Please submit your form as soon as possible. The camps will be held on July 16-20 and July 23-27 (Mon to Fri) for children from JK to Grade 6.
  • We will be having a Joint Good Friday Worship Service on Mar 30 with other Chinese Alliance churches at Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church from 7-9pm. Starting at 6pm, there will be stations open to individuals who would like to do some personal reflection and preparation prior to the service. All are welcome. Please feel free to invite also your non-Christian friends as it will be evangelistic in nature.
  • 2018 Church Summer Camp will be held on May 19-21 (Sat-Mon) at Mohawk College, Hamilton. The speaker is Rev. Gerald Hogenbirk. The theme is “Equipped for the Gospel”. Children program is led by BCM Canada. Registration has been started. Deadline is Apr 8. Please remember the summer camp in your prayer.
  • Rev. Daniel Tang will take days off this Wed to Fri (Mar 14-16).
  • Rev. Joe Chan will take days off from Mar 20-25 (Tue to Sun).
  • Administrative Assistant Karen Fung will take days off this Tue to Thu (Mar 13-15).
  • Toronto Chinese Christian Parenting Association will hold 2018 Teens Conference Parenting Workshop at the Richmond Hill Christian Community Church on March 13 (Tue) and March 15 (Thu) from 7:30pm -9:30pm. The topics are “Building a Positive Relationship with My Teen” and “Strategies of Effective Communicating with My Teen” respectively. Speaker is Miss Ena Lee. Please register at tccpa.org.
  • Urbana 2018 “Discern your place in God’s global mission” will be held on Dec 27-31 St Louis MO. Super early bird registration starts on March 1 until June 30 at discounted price of $435 USD for post secondary students and $535 USD for others.
