Bulletin for October 7, 2018

We thank God that our church has entered 30 years and thankful for His grace, leadership and providence.
Today English fellowships are scheduled to set up lunch and clean up. Please note and help around.
Baptismal Classes will be starting today at 11:30 am in the library. All who have applied or are still interested in getting baptized are asked to attend.
The 30th Anniversary Commemorative Scrapbook will be placed on the reception table after Sunday Service until today for the congregation to sign or write a testimonial. In addition, the thanksgiving banquet will be held tonight at 5pm at Scarborough Buffet (1221 Markham Road, #1a). Please be on time to celebrate with us.
Family Ministry will be hosting a two days workshop on how to overcome misunderstanding, improve communication and strengthen bonds between youth & parents. The first day of workshop will be for parents only on Oct 14 (next Sun) from 1:30-3:30pm. The second day of workshop will be for both parents and youth on Oct 27 (Sat) from 10am to 3pm. Annual General Meeting will take place Oct 21 in the gym after English Sunday School and lunch. A list of eligible voting members will be posted on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary next week. All members please take note and make every effort to attend the meeting. Agenda as follows:

Election of nominees as Elders for 2019-2020: Jason Cheung, Arthur Wong, Carmen Ho & Cecilia Ho.
To approve 2019 financial budget (insert in bulletin).
To approve CHAN CHOONG & CHANG CPA Professional Corporation as our external auditor for year 2018.

Fire drill will be held on next Sunday (Oct 14) right after Chinese Sunday Service. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wait in the parking lot until further instructions. As this is a fire drill, regular ministries and meeting will resume after it has concluded.
Our church forecast expenses is $738,951. Until end of Aug, we have received $366,731; therefore, from Sept to Dec we need $20,700 offering each week. Please continue to pray for our needs and brothers and sisters’ steadfast offering.
Our former Children Pastor Pastor Amy Yu will have a ordination service on Oct 21, Sunday at 2:30pm at Scarborough Chinese Baptist Church. We are welcome to celebrate with her.
Dr. Joe Chan will be on vacation from Oct 14-28.
Elder Board Resolution in September:

It is resolved to repair the compressor of the air conditioner in the gymnasium for a cost not exceeding $3,000.00.
It is resolved to transfer $100,000 from the General Fund to the Building Fund to offset its deficit.
It is resolved to offer $5000.00 to C&MA, $5000.00 to ECD and $2000.00 to CCACA from the Mission Fund.
It is resolved to approve the Technical Support Department to use up to $8,000.00 of the Capital Reserve Fund to purchase related equipment.
