Prayer Requests: Day 13

Day 13.

Produce and Industry.

The people of Baozhong are either farmers or factory workers. The main produces of Baozhong are peanuts, tea (a type of “oolong”), and other vegetables. At one point, Taiwan was a main industrial region in the world, but many factories have moved out of Taiwan to other places with cheaper labour, e.g. China, Indonesia, Philippines, etc. However, there are still a few factories in Baozhong.

Surprisingly, some of the workers are not necessarily from native Taiwan. There are some who are originally from other parts of the world, e.g. China, Vietnam, etc. They have moved from their original country to Taiwan mainly because of opportunity and higher wages in Taiwan relative to where they are from. Therefore, Baozhong is one of the poorer and lesser developed townships of rural Taiwan.

The students that we will be ministering to are mainly from these families. Pray that the STM team can exemplify Christ and be His ambassador while in Baozhong. Pray that God will provide for the felt needs of the people of Baozhong, so the real need of Jesus Christ can be received.

Today, I want to introduce another member of our team, Philip Cheung. He is married to Eleanor (Day 8) and has two adult sons, Philemon and Enoch. Philip works for Environment Canada. His favourite sport is soccer and loves playing with friends at church or colleagues whenever possible. Hopefully, he will have an opportunity to use the game of soccer to build meaningful relationships with some of the students in Baozhong! Philip also goes to the fitness centre often to exercise a few times a week to keep in shape. Please take a moment to read his prayer requests.
