Day 15.
Spiritually Attuned.
Missions is God’s work. We are only participants in the work that He already is doing in the world. God doesn’t need any of us, but we all need God. We all need both His peace and presence to do His work. We need to be spiritually attuned to God.
Before heading out to the mission field, our team has been doing a yellow devotions book. This yellow book has two sets of devotions. The first set, titled, “God, Use Me”, is about preparing our hearts, which focuses on characteristics of a disciple such as humility, love, patience, and servanthood in considering a different culture than our own. The second set of devotions is titled “See God’s Heart, Be His Hands”. We will be doing this second set together as a team in Taiwan almost every day. It emphasizes connection with God, staying rooted in His Word, and the practice of being in the presence of God. This is so important as every member on the Taiwan STM is aware of the unseen spiritual battles (Ephesians 6:10-20) that is ongoing in our lives and in Taiwan. Satan does not want us to share Christ.
Pray that the team is spiritually attuned for God’s work. Pray that Satan will not gain a foothold on any of our team members. Pray for the pastors, Rev. Albert (IW), P. Joshua (local church pastor), and Rev. Joe (spiritual leader of team). Pray for Derek Ng (team leader), and each member’s spiritual walk. Pray that God would speak to each member on this trip and that they would learn something about their personal calling towards His mission.
Today, I would like to introduce another member of our team, Wendy Chuang. Wendy is a teacher for the Toronto District School Board. She teaches grade 6. Wendy has 2 brothers and is the middle child. She loves to ski and travel the world. We are so thankful that Wendy is on our team because she helped us create most of the curriculum for this English camp. Coupled with the fact that she speaks fluent Mandarin, she is a great asset since many of us cannot! Please take a moment to read her prayer requests.
