Prayer Requests: Day 16

Day 16.

The Gospel Heritage.

Albert B. Simpson, founder of the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination, often used Matthew 24:14 to inspire and drive global mission. The verse says, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Over a hundred years later, the spreading of the Gospel and the desire to reach the world and save the lost is still very much alive today!

Simpson left a heritage and missional tradition to those after him. The question that we need to ask ourselves is, “Will we continue this tradition and pass it forward to the next generation?” Or will the Gospel die with us? Of course, everyone on the Taiwan STM team hopes that missions will continue and that we can build upon our forefathers’ zeal for missions and pass it onward to subsequent generations.

Pray that the fire and passion for missions may grow strong in our churches. Pray that the Gospel work may not die with us but that we are able to pass a great tradition forward. Pray that we may all be world Christians with a heart for the lost and unsaved in our world.

Today, I want to introduce the last member of our team, Yvonne Mak. Yvonne comes from a family of four where she has a younger brother. She works for the municipal government of York Region. She has many hobbies, but one life changing hobby is biking. She took up biking in 2014 and she rode her bicycle from Toronto to Montreal with several friends from Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church! We are so thankful for Yvonne as she helped put together our devotional booklet. She is often very knowledgeable and resourceful and contributes greatly to our team. Please take a moment to read her prayer requests.

Yvonne’s Prayer Requests

  • To serve humbly and with humility, clean hands and pure hearts
  • To have good time management
  • To show tremendous team spirit
  • To be passionate toward our students and the locals
  • For harmony and unity among the team members

This is the last entry before I (Joe) heads out for Taiwan. We still have many things to prepare in the last week and a half. However, I will try to update from time to time through the church Facebook page or whenever possible. When the team gets to Taiwan, please understand that many of us will be fatigued from travel, time zone changes, and lack of sleep. Further, our schedule each day is generally packed with preparation and ministry. I’ll do the best I can. If I cannot update as frequently as I would like, please know that our team members still covet your prayers. On behalf of every team member on the Taiwan STM, we thank you for your support, love, and prayers. May God continue to bless you richly! May the Gospel of Jesus Christ be preached throughout the world!
