Prayer Requests: Day 4

Day 4.

This is a new location and ministry. We will mainly be focused on teaching English to Junior High students at the Baozhong Junior High School as a fun summer camp. There are several primary schools (K-6) in the township of Baozhong and greater county of Yunlin that feed into Baozhong Junior High School.

There will be at least 50 students (graduated grade 6 transitioning to grade 7), but we expect anywhere from 60-80 students since the higher grades (grades 7-9) are invited to the camp. We plan to open 3 classes (easy, medium, and hard) and place students in the appropriate class after an English proficiency interview.

The principal of the school has been very supportive. He hopes that there would be as many as 100 students registering! A hundred students would be beyond our capacity and capability. However, we will try our best to accommodate by possibly having a backup class. Now, we’re not sure how we’re going to do this, but it’s certainly a good problem to have! Pray that the team can be prepared for whatever opportunity God presents on this trip.

Today, I want to introduce another team member, Betty Chan. She is married to Rev. Joe Chan and has a ten-year old son; Jared Chan. Betty is a professional accountant (CPA), working at BDO. However, her true passion is to serve others and witness Christ to colleagues in the workplace and the mission field abroad. Please take a moment to read her prayer requests.

Betty’s Prayer Requests

  • Continuous tension between serving Caesar and serving the Lord, which causes riots (John 19:7-16; Acts 17:5-9)
  • Living on God instead of living on myself
  • Learning how to fast and pray for the nations, especially those in my mission field (BDO)
