Youth Ministry: December News

Hey Everyone,

Advent — from the Latin word adventus which means “arrival” or “coming.” This is the season in the church where we celebrate and remember the first coming of Christ and continue to anticipate his second coming. In other words, Merry Christmas! It’s an exciting month, out-of-town students are coming back home, everyone gets a few days off, we get to sing Christmas carols, and there’s lots of food! In this season, may I encourage you all to renew your relationship with Christ by remembering that this is really all about him! It’s through him alone that we have life and him alone that we have hope. May his message of love, joy, and peace saturate your hearts this season and may you share that message with all those are around you as well.

But while it’s a joyous season for many, this season also proves to be extra difficult for those who are without — those who recently lost loved ones, those who have faced much trial over the year, those who are still foreign to this place and our church, those who simply don’t have much. Let’s not forget these people around us either. As God extended himself out to us by graciously giving us his Son, let’s also extend ourselves to those around us who may be in need this season. Perhaps there’s a family or friend nearby that doesn’t have a place to celebrate this year, maybe we could invite them to our own celebrations at home?

Whatever you do, may God bless you and your family abundantly that you may be a blessing as well to all those around you. Let’s wrap up this year well!
