Youth Ministry: February News

Happy Chinese New Year! Last month we celebrated the restart of the calendar year and many people (including me) came into the year with a fresh list of resolutions. How have those been coming along for you? Mine have seen ups and downs but for the most part, I’ve still committed to them!

But if you’ve slipped, don’t fret! Because being part of the Chinese community gives you yet another opportunity to start again. Happy Chinese New Year — new year, new you!

This past weekend we had our annual Themelios Committee Boot Camp and we had a great time of fellowship and learning about busyness from a biblical worldview and how we can properly balance between giving it all for Jesus and still keeping to a healthy workload and getting sufficient rest.

I hope that both parents and students alike can have that healthy balance as the new high school semester kicks off.

But back to the present, here’s what’s happening in the month ahead!

YOUTH NEWS

412 Fellowship Sleepover – Fri, Feb 15, 7:30 pm – Sat, Feb 16, 11:00 am @ CCAC
See consent form here. Once again, we’ll be having our sleepover this year for Grades 7-8 at the church. Please hand in your consent forms to either myself of Jeremy as soon as possible so that we know how many to expect. For updates, please go to our website here.

AFC’s Teens Conference – March 11-14 @ RHCCC
Highly encouraged especially for those in the younger grades! TC Jr (Grades 7-9) will be from March 11-12 and TC Sr (Grades 10-12) will be from March 13-14. Please register soon as the early bird deadline is this Sunday, February 10. Should financial aid be required, please send me a message.

Toronto Remix – June 26 – 30, @ Seneca College Newnham Campus
We went two years ago and had a great experience. Toronto Remix is a week-long interactive and hands-on urban mission experience designed to equip, train, and inspire young leaders to centre their lives within the mission and message of Jesus. Baptism Applications
We just witnessed a baptism a few weeks ago. Were any of you stirred to be baptized yourself? If so, the application for the June baptism are now open. Come talk to me for more information!

Taiwan Short Term Missions – July 4 – 17, 2019 @ Baozhong, Taiwan
This year, our church will be sending a short-term missions team to Baozhong, Taiwan. As with any STM, the goal is to discern God’s calling on your life with respect to the work of the Great Commission. The team going to Taiwan will be doing this primarily through teaching English to youth. Applications are now open and you get access them here.
