Youth Ministry: January News

And just like that, it’s 2020! This is the time where many of us take in all the moments of reflection from December and put them into practice. So let me walk through the last two months for us here… In November, our church had our missions month where we heard from missionaries and others about the urgent need for the gospel in the least-reached corners of the world. Then in December, we just remembered and celebrated the coming of Jesus to save us. In other words, we witnessed the very essence of the Gospel message — that God would actually condescend to save an undeserving people as us.

And so now, as we enter 2020, may I challenge us to answer that Gospel call and respond by boldly bringing that Gospel message to all those around us and by genuinely living out that Gospel message through everything that we do. Pick up your Bible, spend some more time in prayer, commit deeper to your fellowship, call up a friend and share with them the gospel, consider serving, consider going on a short-term missions trip. I pray that as you engage in these things this year that you would experience God’s grace and goodness in its fullness!

Now on the topic of missions. We have two great opportunities coming up this year — one to Taiwan and one to Mexico. In particular, I want to encourage our youth to consider the one to MEXICO. This will be taking place from August 2 – 9 but the applications actually close this Sunday! On this trip, we’ll be partnered with an organization called Mexico Caravan Ministries to build houses for those in need. During our stay, we’ll be building four homes and we’ll have the opportunity to hear from many experienced missionaries and be challenged in the way that we follow Jesus. If you’ve never gone before, I highly encourage you to consider. This really is a great trip and an eye-opening experience.
