Youth Ministry: June News

It’s the final month of school. Hang in there, you’re almost done! Parents, let’s pray especially for our high school students at this time. This is often a time of added stress, anxiety, and pressure for them.

Often, I hear students share about how they ask God for help to do well on exams. While there’s nothing wrong with that, we can ask God for anything (how he answers is a different matter), I always wonder if this is the best way that we can be praying. Does this mean that God only shows up when we get an A in school?

Over the years, I think I’ve found a better way. Instead of praying for academic success, we ought to pray that we see God through our studies. After all, aren’t all the subjects that we study the result of God’s creation? And if so, shouldn’t then the study of these subjects, regardless of the grade we get, point us to God? I think so!

So, it’s time for a change in our mentality then. Instead of praying for God to give you that A, I want to challenge you rather to ask God to help you worship him and see the beauty of his creation as you study. I think this will ultimately produce a much more healthy, God-honouring, and motivational approach to academics. 

So students, I pray that as you study this season you’ll be drawn to see the beauty of creation more and more and as a result of that, I pray that you’ll have your affections for God increased and that you’ll even find joy as you treat your study as an act of pure worship!

Attention Grade 12’s

Are you looking forward to your post-secondary transition? Do you have questions or fears about your school? Do you wish you had some upper-years to talk to? Well fear no more! Every summer, we run a special fellowship with all our post-secondary students and you’re all invited to join!

Come and build connections and study God’s Word alongside these people that you’ll be doing life with for the next few years. We meet every Thursday at 7:30 pm at P. Anthony’s house. For the address or for more information, please message me or any of our current post-secondary students.

Fitness | 1st and 3rd Fridays, 6:15 – 7:15 pm
Want to get fit but can’t afford a gym membership? Our counsellors, Jeremy and Philemon, are starting a workout time for any youth who’d be interested in getting fit before fellowship. This will be a safe and fun time to sweat and invite your friends. For more information, please contact either of them.
