Youth Ministry: November News

Hi Everyone,

As we exit Reformation Month, we’re entering Missions Month in November! We have a lot of exciting things lined up this month–OMF will be coming to teach Sunday school for four weeks, we have an IW from Taiwan coming to speak for our missions conference weekend, and we’ll be announcing a new missions opportunity for 2018! It’s going to be an exciting month! I pray that God would inspire and convict you all over the course of the next few weeks as he reveals to us his heart for the nations.

City United – Olive Branch Community Church (175 Anderson Ave, Markham), 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
As part of my ministry, I join with a bunch of other Markham youth pastors to form what’s called the Markham Youth Network (or MYNet for short) as part of the greater Canadian Youth Network. And this year, we’ll be hosting our second ever joint event for all the Markham high school fellowships. This will be a time of fun, worship, and prayer for all the schools represented. There’s no actual monetary cost for this event but all are encouraged instead to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the food drive that they’ll be running. If you have any questions, just give me a shout. I’ll post some more info closer to the date. In the mean time, here’s the consent form.

Missions Conference – Friday, November 17, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Our annual missions conference! This year, we’re honoured to have Albert Lu, an IW (international worker) from Taiwan coming to share with us about the work he and his family are doing out there.

Themelios Retreat – Countryside Camp, December 29 – January 1
It’s that time again! For all in Themelios, retreat will be back at Countryside again this year but at a different building. Our theme for this year is “Return of the King.” Please register soon as spaces are more limited this year! Go to the post here for the latest info and the registration form.

Vacation Alert!
Jackie and I will be taking some vacation time together from October 26 – November 14. I’ll be in and out of the city so I may not be able to respond to you as promptly as I usually do, sorry! For anything urgent, you’re welcome to contact Pastor Joe or any of the other counselors in my absence.
