Youth Ministry: October News

What a year this is. I feel that all I can do month over month is encourage you and and myself to simply press on in Christ as we face crisis after crisis in the world. We’re now facing a second wave of the pandemic, there are fires in California, there’s the US election debacle, racial injustice are persisting, the situation in Hong Kong and China continues still, and today I’ve learned that Armenia is now flaring up in war. 

Friends, look to Christ! Having hope in Christ in times as these is really the only means by which we can press on. In conversation with many of you, I know that school is especially tough right now too. Even for that, turn to Christ! I want to encourage you as well that even though it may be hard for us to see, God is still in control and at work in great ways. Yesterday, we had our denominational district meeting and our superintendent, Curtis Peters, was reminding us to see also the good that God’s doing in this time. And as I reflected, there really are still good things happening.

One thing I’ve noticed in Themelios is that in these past few weeks, despite having to do things online, we’ve actually still had several new faces drop in and join us. That’s pretty exciting stuff to see! Online ministry, though certainly difficult and different, has its blessings and advantages as well. Even in this, God’s making opportunities for us to share his gospel. 

So friends, may I encourage you today to pause and reflect at what good God is doing around you? Maybe you’ve had more time to spend with family? Maybe you’ve had an opportunity to really work out your spiritual disciplines? Maybe God has given you fresh opportunities to share Christ with others through this time of global need? I’d love to hear from you if you have any encouragement to share! We could all use some good news and encouragement these days!

In-Person English Worship

In other good news, I’m excited to announce that we’re currently aiming to re-open our English Sunday Worship Service for in-person attendees starting October 18. This is of course pending the pandemic, but if all things remain the same, then that’s the date!

For those who are interested in joining, just tune in to our announcements starting this Sunday for more information. By next week, you’ll also be able to check out our website for all the instructions on how to join in as well. 

For those who aren’t ready to come in yet, no worries, we’ll still be continuing our online live stream!
 

Vacation Notice

Finally, just an FYI that I’ll be taking vacation from October 4 – 25. Due to the pandemic, I won’t be going anywhere but I’ll be at home enjoying a nice staycation. If there’s anything you need in my absence, please feel free to contact Pastor Joe, Cecilia (our Youth Elder), or any of our counsellors.
